Let’s learn Japanese kanji 薬 !

今回の漢字は『薬』!

薬 - くすり medicine; drugs

薬を飲む - くすりをのむ to take medicine

薬局 - やっきょく pharmacy, drugstore

薬害 - やくがい damage to the body caused by medicine; adverse and long-lasting side effects

麻薬 - まやく a narcotic; drugs

麻薬常用者 - まやくじょうようしゃ a drug addict; a regular drug user

麻薬の濫用 - まやくのらんよう drug abuse

麻薬探知犬 - まやくたんちけん a sniffer dog; a drug sniffing dog

薬師如来 - やくしにょらい The Healing Buddha/ Master of Healing - Buddha of the Pure Crystal Realm, often depicted with an all-healing jar in one hand; his aim is to heal all suffering, both physical and mental, and to help guide people back to the path of leading to Enlightment. First introduced in the Yakushi sutra (Yakushikyou 薬師経), Yakushi Nyorai cult was particularly strong in the Heian Period (794-1185).

Japanese proverb 諺:

良薬は口に苦し - りょうやくはくちににがし Advice when most needed is least heeded. / Bitter truth is always a hard pill to swallow.

(lit. Good medicine tastes bitter in the mouth.)
