Let’s learn Japanese kanji for turtle, 亀!

今回の漢字は『亀』です。

亀 - かめ  a turtle, a tortoise, a terrapin 🐢

亀甲, 亀の甲- きっこう、かめのこう a tortoise shell

亀の子 - かめのこ a young turtle/tortoise/terrapin

亀裂 - きれつ a crack, a crevice, a cleft

亀鑑の - きかんの a model, a good example an exemplar

オカメ a plain-looking woman, ”plain Jane” with a round face

Don’t worry, you don’t need to memorise THAT stroke order! 😌 The original character had evolved over the years, and had been independently simplified in both Japan and China:

🇨🇳 龟
